Meet our mom, Susan!

CB: Who are you in quarantine with?
SM: My boyfriend and Alioune, my 18 month old son.
CB: What is your quarantine story? SM: Not sure how interesting this is but we took this opportunity to finally sleep train Alioune. Yes, at 18 months... don't ask. LOL. Last year, we traveled as a family quite a bit and had a hard time keeping up with a routine. And we just kind of got used to letting him fall asleep in our bed then transferring him to his crib. We figured since we weren't going anywhere any time soon, it didn't matter if he kept us up all night for a few nights. Luckily it only took about 4 nights and honestly it's the best thing we could've done. Shout out to my support group who I texted throughout the entire process while I tried to stay cool, calm, and collected through his tears.
CB: What are 3 tips you would give to other Moms to help them during this time?
SM: 1. Keep it all in perspective. I had a good friend of mine, who is also a mother, correct me when I said it was challenging working from home with a little one. And she quickly replied saying, "No, there's a global pandemic where people are getting sick and dying. And you're working at home, while also caring for your young child and trying to process everything." Her words were reassuring and revealed that I was being a little too hard on myself.
2. Step away from the screens from time to time. And also, don't feel guilty for letting the little one indulge in a little screen time if that means a break for mama.
3. Hydrate! Moms are always taking care of everyone else and sometimes we forget to care for ourselves. Literally, one day I looked up at like 4 pm and realized I hadn't had any water all day. Coffee, yes... but no water!
